How to Design a Grey Kitchen

Grey has been around for a few years now as a go-to colour for kitchens.

According to the bestselling interior design magazine House Beautiful, light grey is one of the top kitchen colours gaining even more popularity this year.

If you're looking for an interior style that is neutral, timeless, and versatile, grey is the perfect choice.

There are many ways you can achieve an incredible grey kitchen design; here are some of our recommendations for you to consider:

Grey Two Ways

Combining two different shades of grey is an easy but effective way to create a warm and welcoming look.

Dark and light greys are a prominent pair, but you may wish to play around with patterns and textures for a bolder statement. When teaming greys together, it's impossible to get it wrong, so have fun with it!

We love this Nobilia Touch Kitchen in Slate Grey Supermatt and contrasting Smokey Grey kitchen cabinets. It would look super trendy with the addition of some gold or brass elements.

Remember to consider how dark or light your room is when choosing tones. Although a combination of dark greys looks great together, you don't want to make your room look dark and uninviting. For smaller kitchens with less natural light, we'd suggest light greys in a gloss finish.

Mixing Grey with Wood

Grey and wood together is a match made in heaven, and it's a really popular design at the moment, especially if you want to achieve an industrial style kitchen.

Adding organic finishes to a grey kitchen design can bring an earthy element that is inviting and calming – perfect for open-plan, social spaces.

You can add wood in various ways, from flooring to worktops, but we love to encourage more unique additions to our customer's designs. Here are just a few ideas:

 ·        Wall panelling

·        Shelving

·        Breakfast island

·        Contrasting kitchen cabinets

·        Cabinet trims

Accents of Colour or Metal

Adding a splash of colour to your kitchen is perfect for brightening up your new kitchen or adding a bit of your style. This can be achieved simply by adding accessories like bold coloured toasters, pastel island chairs, or bronze pots and pans.

Or you can embrace colours and metals into your initial design. One way to do this is with tiles and splashbacks in a complimentary pastel colour such a duck egg blues or dusty pinks. Alternatively, you may want to add fun metal handles and lighting.
